Mrs  Temple at the Cavendish

Step back to 1959 – the year when Hornby Drama Group staged its first play – and take a light-hearted look at the lives, loves, suspicions and sorrows of staff and residents at the Cavendish Hotel. Mrs Temple’s arrival for Christmas sparks a chain of misunderstandings, deceit and intrigue,  which  threaten to  disrupt this very traditional Harrogate establishment. Will troubles overwhelm them, or will guests and staff have a happy Christmas after all?  There’s only one way to find out…

Specially written for Hornby Drama, the play  provides on-stage roles for all the current adult members of the group who wished to be involved in a special production to mark the 60th anniversary.   The cast includes several long-standing group members with a wealth of experience alongside some of the younger recruits.

It’s been great fun to bring this band of Cavendish characters to life with all their eccentricity, sadness, secrets and joys, and we hope the audience will enjoy getting to know them as much as we have.

The play is set in the drawing room of the Cavendish Hotel.
